Relationship Therapy Provided to You
What are some common things that my counselor works with?
Common things that our counselors work with in Relationship Therapy can include the following: Communication Issues, Past Infidelity, Exploring Non-Monogamy, Adjustment to Change, Sexuality, and Pre-Marital Counseling. Check out our Blogs Page for more in-depth explanations.
What if our relationship is non-monogamous, can we still get support?
Absolutely! As long as all members are of legal age and consenting to the relationship and getting services together, you are welcome! We work with all relationships regardless of being ethically non-monogamous, polyamorous, open relationship, asexuality, or traditional monogamy.
Reclamation & Recovery Counseling proudly provides services to teens, adults, relationships and families! We are also an Ally to both the LGBTQIA+ and Kink Community. We strive to make all therapy sessions a safe, non-judgemental, and inclusive space no matter how you identify.
What can I expect to happen in a relationship session?
These meetings will be held between yourself, your partner(s) and your counselor. All activities will be geared towards the healing of the relationship. This approach is a tad different than the traditional session between just you and a counselor. Counselors in Relationship Therapy tend to take a more “Neutral” and mediating stance in these sessions. This is done to ensure equality and fairness to all partners involved in the session. These sessions may also be more hands on and directive, as the counselor aids you and your partner(s) in creating a healthier dynamic. Depending on the concerns that are bringing you into counseling, typical items that are covered in relationship sessions include: learning communication skills, providing education relationship dynamics, teaching and practicing empathy for partners, and joint goal planning.
